Another detail of a mural painted for the Westdene project, an urban art transformation project that engaged the community directly with resounding success and over 70 walls painted as part of the project so far.
The projects helped home owners offer street facing walls to artists and in the process completely transformed an entire suburb.
There was a fatal bus accident in the area about 30 years ago where 25+ children drowned when the bus went off a bridge. People seemed to have hung on to the tragic story and it was fantastic to see that the Westdene Graffiti Project helped bring a more positive perception or stigma to the Westdene suburb.
